What it means
A privacy policy is legally required for most websites and apps that collect personal data. Under the CCPA (California), GDPR (EU), Quebec's Law 25, and similar regimes, it must disclose data categories collected, sources, purposes, retention periods, third-party recipients, user rights (access, deletion, portability, opt-out of sale), and contact information for the responsible business or data-protection officer.
